2017 was a great year for rappers and Hip Hop labels with Hip Hop becoming the most popular music gender ever to exist.

Contrary to what many believe, this is only the beginning so here are the top 5 Hip Hop labels that helped their rappers achieve greatness this year.

5) XO

Belly and NAV made some strong moves this year while being backed up by their label mate The Weeknd. With Weeknd leaning towards the R&B/Pop scene, Belly and NAV managed to collaborate on several hits that are currently doing impressive numbers on all streaming services.

Next year might be the year for XO since Drake already expressed his interested in doing an XO x OVO album. However, XO scores number 5 in our top for this year.

4) MMG

With Meek Mill recovering from his beef with Drake and Rick Ross doing what he does best, and that is selling records, MMG made some good moves this year while scoring number 5 in our top.

Wale’s latest studio effort “Shine”, Meek’s “Wins and Losses” (as well as his mixtapes), and Rozay’s “Rather You Than Me” made the label one of the strongest out there for 2017. We’ll see how 2018 goes for them.

3) QC

The Migos dominated 2017 with their singles. Each and every track from CULTURE was a hit with the album going Platinum in April after being released in January the same year.

There’s no doubt that the group is beyond significant for the current Hip Hop scene. Hopefully the rest of the label moves the same way while stepping up their game when it comes to sales and performances. Nevertheless, Quality Control remains a hit factory.

2) OVO

OVO dominated the carts with Drake’s late 2016 album “Views” and his 2017 compilation “More Life.” OVO Fest went as planned, Drake also released several sneaker collaborations and the label’s exposure went on an all-time-high.

However, there is one name that surpassed Drake this year while his label made better moves when it comes to album sales and streaming. Still wondering who that is? Check out the next entry in our top.

1) TDE

You guessed it – TDE stole 2017 with Kendrick Lamar’s “Damn.” outranking everyone in the game. “Damn.” is the highest selling album of the year so far with the project moving an astonishing 1.77 million album equivalent units. Even Drake applauded Kendrick and TDE for their strategy.

SZA, ScHoolboy Q, and Jay Rock also released their projects this year, so congratulations TDE – 2017 is yours.
