1) Toronto Raptors win historic NBA title

The Toronto Raptors have made NBA history by winning Game 6 of the Finals while defeating the Golden State Warriors 114-110 at Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif.

“Canada, we brought it home, baby. Canada, we brought it home,” Kyle Lowry emphatically said after the team was presented with the Larry O’Brien NBA Championship Trophy. Kawhi Leonard, who scored 22 points in Game 6, was named Finals MVP with the Raptors being the first non-American team to win the NBA title.

2) Dirk, D-Wade, Parker end their career

Iconic NBA players Dwyane Wade, Dirk Nowitzki and Tony Parker each retired in 2019.

Wade did so after averaging a career 22.0 points and winning three NBA titles in 16 seasons. Nowitzki played 21 seasons, all with Dallas, and averaged 20.7 points while winning one championship. Parker won four NBA titles and made six All-Star teams while playing all but one of his 18 seasons in San Antonio.

3) Angels Throw Combined No-Hitter During First Home Game Since Tyler Skaggs’ Death

By far, the most memorable moment of the 2019 MLB season.

The passing of Tyler Skaggs was incredibly sad, especially because you can tell how much he meant to the Angels organization.

His team threw a combined no-hitter during their first home game following the All-Star break, which was also after Skaggs’ passing.

4) Zion Williamson’s shoe explodes on court

Duke star Zion Williamson experienced a strange moment on court when his Nike shoe exploded into the game against arch-rival North Carolina.

The freshman sensation made his return wearing a modified version of Kyrie Irving’s 4 model Nikes, rather than the Paul George’s 2.5 model that failed him the last time. He was, of course, asked many times about the shoes by reporters after the game, but he didn’t offer too many details about the unique incident.

5) Andy Ruiz Jr. upsets Anthony Joshua with a cold win

Andy Ruiz Jr. shocked the world when he bested Anthony Joshua in June 2019. While Ruiz Jr. would fall in the rematch a few months later, it can’t take away from his monumental victory.
This was by far the biggest upset in heavyweight boxing for this generation.
