The music world has changed nowadays due to the efficiency and spread of the Internet. Artists create their own art and upload it on different platforms without having to comply with any requests from the label.

Although everyone seems to incline towards an independent career, here are the biggest labels in the game that are making noise.

O.V.O – October’s Very Own – Drake

The label founded by the “hottest rapper in the game right now” is actually pretty new in the game but with noticeable results.

Although we know PND and Majid Jordan are signed there, we really need the focus of the label to be widened, as in, to put their priority on artists other than Drake.

M.M.G – Maybach Music Group – Rick Ross

Although it hasn’t quite shown the same level of success as that of its owner Ross, in the past years, M.M.G. has definitely been one of the most successful labels in the game.

Through M.M.G, Ross managed to give real stardom shots to his artists like Meek Mill, Wale or Omarion, while also searching for fresh talent like Fat Trel.

G.O.O.D Music – Kanye West

The G.O.O.D. label is now established as a big family, that’s why Kanye even offered the presidential chair to his signee Pusha T.

With other artists such as John Legend, Teyana Taylor and Big Sean, we are more than sure that there is going to be more to hear from this conglomerate.

YMCMB/ Cashmoney – Birdman & Lil Wayne

While the feud between the father and the son continues, we can’t ignore that they are still the heads of one (or two) of the most successful labels in the market.

With superstars such as Nicki Minaj and Drake under their belt, the label continues to expand while boasting millions in sales.

Grand Hustle – T.I.

One of the most underrated labels in the game, headed by one of the Southern legends. T.I. manages to bring a variety of artists and sounds at the same spot.

Young Dro, B.o.B and Trae the Truth, together with the more recent Travis Scott and Iggy Azalea shows us that Grand Hustle is not going to be forgotten any time soon.

Strange Music – Tech N9ne

One of the more bizarre labels ever and on this list, Strange Music is present in the industry since 1999. Even though more than 15 years have passed since it’s founding, Tech N9ne and the other artists manage to keep Strange Music in the minds of the fans.

Bad Boy Records – Sean Combs

Since 1993, Bad Boy Records has been one of the top 5 labels in the game. Founded and still led by the mogul Diddy, the label made waves in the recent years with the Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour.

Roc Nation – Jay – Z

One of the biggest labels in the music industry is still making waves in 2016. With a roster that includes artists such as J. Cole, Kanye, Rihanna and DJ Khaled, while managed by the owner of TIDAL and constantly expanding, Roc Nation is the perfect example of evolution and adaptation.
