Even if Puma is not a name we usually hear when it comes to sneaker releases, the sportswear brand is back with three iconic silhouettes packed up in a new release under the name of R-SYSTEM Legacy. Let’s see what the brand has in store for us.
Short history
Back in the ’80s, Puma premiered their Running System legacy with the RS-100, a running shoe that combined the high performance standard with some cool packaging way ahead of its time. Not long after the initial release, the brand also introduced a followup release under the name of RS Computer Shoe .
The second shoe used a custom-designed computer chip built into a heel module that recorded actual running data (time, distance, calories burned etc.), a technology that was also ahead of its time while being completed by a third release under the name of RS-350.
New Pack
To celebrate their dedication to runners and their technological advancement, Puma decided to round up all three sneakers while releasing a new pack under the name of PUMA RS-0. The following drop aims to honor three decades of sportswear excellence with a new spin when it comes to design. Dubbed in the OG “Archive Green” colorway, the RS-0 edition receives a more-modern spin with the heel module being removed and a fresh take on the striped Puma logos, and the signature green hue on the heel and sole of the shoe.
The RS-100 and RS-350 also receive retro iterations with the same design and material cues that made them worldwide famous. According to inside sources, PUMA plans on inviting a few noteworthy celebrities and influential brands to collaborate on their RS-0 pack for some extra exposure. More specifically, gaming, music, photography, and other creative ventures reps will be invited to push this generation’s culture juices into the future. Additional details will be released sometimes this month but until then check out a photo session with all three pairs below and let us know what you think in the comment section.
Amateur runners and casual wear fans can mark April 14th as the drop date for PUMA’s RS-0 pack. The initial release will only focus on selected retailers but a global release is expected to take place on April 19th. No word on the price range just yet.
